Consultations for Treating OCD

Consultations for Treatment of Pediatric Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Many therapists are confident in treating anxiety through a variety of evidence-based treatments. However, many clients with anxiety also present with some level of compulsive behaviors and often to the level supporting a diagnosis of OCD. When therapists have not received training in Exposure and Response Prevention, the evidence-based treatment for OCD, they will refer their clients out for the treatment of their compulsive behaviors and/or OCD. Yet very few therapists specialize and treat OCD so these clients are often left not receiving proper treatment.

If you as a therapist treat anxiety, I strongly recommend attending a training in Exposure and Response Prevention.  Here are some excellent trainings:

Massachusetts General Hospital

Once you have attended a training and understand the foundation and structure of ERP, it is helpful to receive consultation.  There are so many nitty gritty details and every client’s OCD presents differently.  Consulting with an expert in the field can certainly help you feel more comfortable, confident and capable in treating the full spectrum of your client’s symptoms.

Consultations for professionals are available with Tara Motzenbecker LMHC, RPT. Please reach out to Tara directly if you are interested: Tara@BanyanPsych.com (941) 212-0422
